What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
I realize I've been terrible at LJ lately, especially considering I'm on my summer break and my job (WHICH I HAVE, YESSS) hasn't started yet, so I've mostly been sitting around at home doing nothing. (I also don't really have friends here - or rather, I have few friends here and they are generally busy, especially if I try to see more than one at once.) Anyway, I thought I'd post tonight. One of my biggest insecurities, for whatever reason, has always been my taste in music. So I'm going to post ten songs I love, with youtube links. Judge me all you want. :P

Notes: They are in no particular order. They are not necessarily my favorites. They are not necessarily representative of the full range of my taste in music, nor are they necessarily representative of their respective genres by any means. (See what I mean about this being an insecurity?) Okay.

Ten Songs I Love

1. Better Together - Rhythms Del Mundo & Jack Johnson
This is just a song by Jack Johnson (whom I adore) with another beat on top of it, with brass and stuff (ok I don't review music, ahaha, I only mention that because as a trombone player, adding brass to music automatically makes it 10x better).
Omg just found this!!! AHHHH LOVE THIS SONG NO MATTER WHAT VERSION BUT WOAHHHH. <333 ok moving on.
Ever since it came out, I cannot get enough of this song. Not sure what it is about it. I like Coldplay in general though.
This song radiates happiness for me. Not sure how I found it but I've had it a long time, and it's always been there for me.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dixie Chicks. I kind of grew up on them (them and Aretha Franklin, what?), and they're pretty much the reason I'm okay with saying I like country. This was my 'going off to college' song - it's so cool to have one particular song that represents that part of my life. I also adore "More Love" and many, many more of their songs.
I'm not a soccer/football fan by any means (I really wish I were!) but this song is sooo catchy. Arghhh.
WHAT IS IT WITH THIS SONG. I had gone from being annoyed by Gaga to kind of almost liking her (?) before this song came out. (I had fun pairing my Biblical knowledge with my friend's Gaga/obscure-pop-culture-reference knowledge to interpret the "Judas" video - still not sure how I feel about that song, although the idea of the disciples as a biker gang is kind of awesome.) I still have mixed feelings about her...but yeah, this song is addictive to me. I can't get enough of it.
Such a cute, happy song. And I like the video - it has the beach in it! Seriously, I don't think I'll ever get tired of this song.
Ok, wikipedia tells me this song and video has been "controversial" so hopefully it doesn't bother anyone here. I have no idea how I found this, as I don't really listen to Martina McBride, but this song (and video) entrances me. It's such a powerful story and she has such a powerful voice. Ooh, listening to it now, and I think I figured it out: it's the chorus. Bam. I wish I could sing. :P
Found this recently. I really like it. :)

10. The Rainbow Connection by absolutely anyone.
I love this song for its lyrics, so the version doesn't matter much to me. I gave you the Dixie Chicks version because it's my favorite, although Jason Mraz is a VERY close second (I love him too!). But seriously, the lyrics. Here, I'll get them for you.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell,
we know that it's probably magic...

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

So yeah, that's my list! Hopefully all the links go where they're supposed to - let me know if something's wrong. I've avoided ads wherever possible.

Going to the beach tomorrow! Have a wonderful day.

I love that song too, and his version is so gorgeous.
(jump to about 2:15)

No idea why you're so self-conscious about your taste in music! I'm loving these. Well, no Gaga for me but still :P

AHHHH NO WAY, hahaha. He is lovely <3

It's not so much that I think I have *bad* taste in music, it's like I never feel qualified to talk about it? Or something? I don't really get it either, haha.

You shouldn't be insecure about your music taste, most these tracks are brilliant, and your taste is really varied which is always a good thing!

Aw thank you, I'm glad you approve! I do have varied taste, definitely.

I love the song Wavin' Flag!

I agree with you about Lady Gaga. I both love her and hate her. Even though I have some problems with the way she does things, her music is addictive. I've had Edge of Glory stuck in my head ever since I first saw the video.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of twelve-inch heels (walking independently is good!).

I love that Waving Flag video. They all look so exuberant and happy and carefree. Haha, I don't think it's a good thing that I found myself wondering how it was possible for them not to be stressed.

I love Taylor Swift, and I have four Delta Goodrem songs and one Kylie Minogue. But yes, I am a snob about the music I listen to - not anyone else's music tastes, just my own haha.

You might like these:

And Simon & Garfunkel, Eva Cassidy, Don McLean, Nick Drake and The Whitlams (though you can't find many of their songs online).

Sorry, I like spamming people with music. XD

Yay! Haha thanks, more music is good!
